Great Ocean Road

As soon as we landed in Melbourne, we went straight to the car rental desk, then off to the Great Ocean Road! We spent the night in Apollo Bay, and drove to Port Campbell the next morning, to see Twelve Apostles and other rock formations. I took photos with three different cameras on this trip, so for the sake of all you photography geeks (like me ;)), I mentioned what camera I used on each photo’s caption.

Torquay is the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, and Australia’s surfing capital, home to many famous surf companies, like Rip Curl and Quiksilver, as well as the world-famous Bells Beach. In fact, a few days after we drove through Torquay, an important surf competition was held here, the Rip Curl Pro Surf & Music Festival.

We were driving ever so nonchalantly, and we noticed that all the cars had stopped. Something was going on…what was everyone crowding around?..

A koala was crossing the road! I got out of the car, and knelt on the road to take photos.
